General Questions

  • I’m new here. What should I expect? How do I get connected?

Thanks for checking out Meizon and considering our church to be your church ‘home’!  All of our gatherings are  casual ‘come as you are’ environments.  At our Sunday Morning Experience we offer a 60-75 minute church service that includes singing  worship songs, taking open-table communion together and listening to an encouraging message.  There are occasionally times when we may break into small groups to have a discussion or to pray together but participating in these discussions or prayers are not mandatory.

  • What about our kids? How do they get connected at Meizon?

We offer nursery care (please contact us in advance) and our Meizon Kids program for elementary age children (Pre-K to grade 5) on Sunday’s during our service.  The elementary children stay in for the main service for singing and communion, then are dismissed to Meizon Kids.

We are still a small family church but we are positioned for growth.  As our church grows, we will be offering middle and high school programs and gatherings.  If you are passionate about middle and high school ministry, please let us know.  We would love to have you pioneer new ministry ideas with us!

  • I’m concerned about a family member or friend, can you help?

If you are concerned that someone you know might harm themselves or someone else, PLEASE contact 911.  The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides assistance to those in danger of hurting themselves and concerned others 1(800) 273-8255 (TALK)

If you are not concerned that someone is in danger of actual harm, you can forward your concern to our staff at info@meizonchurch.com so that they can be aware of the situation, but it’s important that people in need of help take the first step of reaching out. If they’re not willing to do that at this time, we won’t be able to initiate the conversation. However, please let that person know that we’re here for them if they’d like to reach out.

  • We’re planning a wedding and would like to have a pastor preform the ceremony?

Sure!  Send us an e-mail at info@meizonchurch.com with your request.  Depending on the scheduling needs, we will try to make it work or point you in a good direction.  We offer and recommend pre-marital counseling as well.

  • What does Meizon believe about racial injustice?

The leadership of Meizon stands with our brothers and sisters of all skin tones and ethnicities.  We lament that we have to address this in our frequently asked questions and recognize that there has been systemic oppression of non-whites in America for more than two hundred years.  We believe the body of Christ is most beautiful when our cultures, skin tones, and ethnicities are combined in unity.  We will stand against, speak against, and even march for the equality of all persons as we believe love looks out for those who have been marginalized.

  • What does Meizon believe about women leadership?

Simply put, we believe women can, should, and will lead at every level of leadership in Meizon Church.  Furthermore, we believe it should be normal in every church, in every nation, on every continent.  Yes, we know that Paul had some strong words regarding women’s roles being limited in the church.  This does not seem to be the final word because he later commends women who were leading churches in the early days of Christianity.  It seems Paul must have been speaking about a specific situation in a specific time and place and not speaking for women’s roles to be limited for eternity.  On issues like this, it is better to zoom out and look at the whole of scripture where we see the important role of women in both the Old and New Testament scriptures.

  • What does Meizon believe about sexuality and gender identity?

We believe every person is created in the image of God and that they bear the image of their loving creator.  Because of this, we welcome, affirm, and are inclusive of everyone, no matter their sexuality or gender identity.  We mean it, no bait and switch. There will never be an instance of telling our LGBTQ+ friends they are welcome and then limiting their involvement and leadership in the church.  We hope to be a place where folks who have left the church over the treatment of LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters can find healing, hope, and acceptance.

Our Vision Pastor, Kevin Bruchert, addressed this in a teaching that you can watch on our YouTube page.

  • I’m just not sure Meizon is going to be the right fit for me and/or my family. What next?

Hey, you never know until you try!  We appreciate you considering Meizon Church and giving us the chance to serve you.  We understand if you don’t connect with what we’re doing or you may not feel completely comfortable in our environments.  It’s totally ok!  What we do want to do is help you find a faith community that’s the right fit for YOU!  Talk to us.  We won’t take it personally and we have a lot of connections with other fantastic churches in the area and we would love to help you find your faith family!
